Artist Statement

My work embraces process. Instead of working the clay to erase all signs of human contact, I prefer to show the clay's malleability by leaving traces of my hands and tool marks on the surface of each vessel. Simplicity and subtlety are important elements of my work. As a natural result of the process, each piece is unique and variations are expected even in matching sets. My intent is to imbue my functional and sculptural work with characteristics that will give the user or viewer a sense of comfort and contentment while performing every-day tasks. My functional work is made to be used and is dishwasher, oven and microwave safe.
